Ignition Hearths in Sintering Machines

A method is proposed for determining the parameters of an ignition hearth for sintering machines on the basis of specific initial data. The method is used in developing the design of compact hearths for inte_grated batch heating. Such hearths are installed at ten sintering machines with sintering_car widths of 3 m. As a result, the heat consumption at ignition is reduced by half in comparison with the long hearths widespread in the 1960s and 1970s, while sinter quality in the upper bed is unchanged.

At OAO Novolipetskii Metallurgicheskii Kombinat (NLMK), the introduction of a rotating granulation drum in combination with a plate granulator is considered, so as to improve sinter production on an AKM-312 machine.
