Cooling of Fine Grain Lissakovsky Iron Ore Deposit Concentrate in a Rotating Drum

The cooling method of fine0grained iron0ore concentrate calcinated at a temperature of 900 – 950 °Ñ was worked through by using of commercial rotating drum cooler. Concentrate cooling is carried out with air owing to evaporating cooling of water supplied into the cooler and water poured from the outside to the drum body. It is shown that the temperature of the concentrate cooled and air warmed up are influenced by various characteristics.

Comparative Analysis of Heat Circuits of Modern Roasting Conveyor Belt Machines

Ajustment of Technological Regimes of Pellets Thermal Treatment in the Upgraded Roasting Machine ÎÊ-124

The development of process conditions for pellet heat treatment using renewed OK-124 roasting conveyor machine N 5 at JSC SSGPO was carried out. Measurements of temperature in different areas according to the height and width of calcining machine were made, as well as evaluation of the air0gas flow characteristics (temperature, pressure, consumption). The machine width pellets heat treatment uniformity was provided, harmful suctions through longitudinal seal were reduced, the optimal heat treatment conditions were determined.

Experience in Development and Introduction of Ignition Hearths of Sintering

The paper addresses determination of the main operational and design characteristics of ignition furnace for sintering machines on the basis of concrete source data. The method is used when designing small furnaces for combined furnace charge heating. The furnaces of this design are installed on 10 sintering machines with pellet cars width of 3 m, and they allow twofold reduction of the specific heat consumption for ignition in comparison with the elongated furnaces used in 1960 – 1970 without top layer agglomerate quality reduction.

The Facility for Thermal Treatment of Disperse Materials and Its Industrial Manufacture

The paper addresses the operating principles of rotary vortex aggregates for heat treatment of paste0like dispersed materials of fraction 3 – 0 mm, with humidity up to 60 %, and oil content up to 5 %. It describes the mathematical model of heat and mass exchange for the vortex flow of a heat carrier with pouring layer of dispersed material, developed on the basis of research at VNIIMT and industrial trial of the oil containing scale utilization unit with capacity of 600 kg/h at OJSC Sinarski Pipe Plant.

Evaluation of the Possibility of Use of Carbon Containing Emulsions As Natural Gas

Replacement of natural gas in domain fusion by other fuel additives is an actual problem. In article it is offered to use carbon0containing emulsion (a coal dust, black oil, water) as additional fuel. Calculations of temperature modes of tuyere zones are executed, the estimation of change of regenerative potential of tuyere gas and heat0exchange processes in the top part of the furnace is given. Technological possibility to use carbon0containing emulsion as a substitute for natural gas is shown.

Analysis of Melt Circulation in a Solidifying Thin Steel Slab

The piper describes the results of estimation of melt currents in steel core of hardening thin steel slabs when using two configurations of nozzle. The reliability of the analysis is provided by application of modern method of turbulence recording based on the two parameter model by Launder0Spalding, as well as the universal finite element numerical method.

Thermal Inspection of Operation of the Furnaces for Vanadium Pentoxide Melting

The analysis of operation of heating furnace for vanadium pentoxide melting was made. Heating balance was made up, which allowed estimating the correlation of heat flows when melting vanadium pentoxide, as well as measuring the specific consumption of fuel. When melting vanadium pentoxide the useful heat equals 2.191 Gcal/h or 20.9 % of the total heat introduced. The specific fuel consumption by the furnaces equals 1.065 kg of equivalent fuel/kg of V2O5. The technical proposals on enhancement of vanadium pentoxide melting furnace efficiency are introduced.

Revamping of the Air Cooling Section in the Wire Rod Mill 150

The paper addresses the main data and amount of modernization carried out on two lines of rod air cooling on 150 rolling mill at Beloretskii Metallurgical Plant, including the air blow0off equipment replacement for more perfect one. The results of the reconstruction are shown, the assortment of the rod produced is expanded, its consumer

Development and Putting into Operation the Site of Thermal Hardening of Reinforcement Bars in the Production Line of the Casting & Rolling System of the Rolling Mill 280

The area of reinforced bars thermostrengthening in 280 rolling mill running was developed and put into operation at State Unitary Enterprise Lliteino Prokatny Zavod, Moscow. Complete development and delivery of the equipment was fulfilled by OJSC VNIIMT aided by OJSC KO VNIIMETMASH and CJSC ASK. The area equipment includes the reinforced bar thermostrengthening device (UTA) with distribution center of water and air supply system, processing table and pinch rolls, autonomous water supply system, and automated control systems. On the basis of the pilot batch analysis results the modes of thermostrengthening have been developed and production of thermostrengthened reinforced bars with À500Ñ strength index was mastered.

The forced-draft device for pumping chemically aggressive or high temperature gas media with improved operating ability is developed. Aerodynamical protection of welded seams and cooling of impeller external surface in form of these parts blow off with atmospheric air is carried out. The design of the forced draft device is recommended for pumping of non0explosive chemically aggressive or high temperature gases (up to 600 – 650 îÑ) in various aggregates at metallurgical enterprises.

Development of Controlled Cooling Systems and Thermal Hardening Techniques

The paper reviews bench and industrial tests to study the regularities of heat exchange under conditions of water jet cooling and to establish the dependencies between heat emission and the operating and design parameters for different assortment of rolled stock, and practicable thermostrengthening methods. It describes the characteristics of the automated devices for plate controlled cooling in 5000 rolling mill and thermostrengthening of reinforcing bars with diameter of 25 – 40 mm in 350 rolling mill, which were developed at OJSC VNIIMT and put into operation at OJSC Severstal.

Certain Ways of Improvement in the Thermal and Ecological Values of Operation of Sintering Machines

The paper addresses the results of industrial installations operation for utilization of agglomerate cooling heat and agglomeration gas recirculation, constructed according to requirement specification of OJSC “VNIIMT”. Heat utilization units perform the intake of the air heated when agglomerate is cooled and its supply to the burners of ignition hearth and to the shelter behind it. Fossil and gas fuel saving was 5.4 – 6.5 kg of conventional fuel (160 – 190 MJ) for ton of agglomerate, the increase of the agglomachine efficiency was 1.6 – 2.7 %. Agglomeration gas recirculation units perform intake the smoke in front of the pipe with supplying it into the layer. This allows reducing of process gas and dust emissions into the atmosphere by 28 % and reducing of fossil fuel consumption by 3.6 kg of conventional fuel (105 MJ) for a ton of agglomerate.

Facility for Production of Hydrogen of Natural Gas and Water Steam

An installation with capacity of 250 ncm/h was developed to obtain hydrogen from natural gas and water vapor. The installation consists of a tube furnace, a medium0temperature conversion unit, a distillatory demineralizer, heat exchangers, and a converted gas purification unit. A unit module of the installation with converted gas output up to 100 ncm/h was built. The unit has passed qualification tests. The correspondence between the estimated performance and the unit characteristics determined experimentally was established.

Experience in Operating Production Devices of Fire Suppression of Iron Containing

The paper describes the flowsheet of unit for fire processing of oil containing anthropogenic wastes including rolling mill scale. The specific scale output is 10-20 times greater than that of a rotary kiln. The residual oil in the scale is 0.4 – 0.5 %. The unit is set in operation at OJSC Revdinsky Plant for nonferrous metal treatment, ÎÎÎ Spetssplav0Ì, and OJSC Sinarsky Pipe Plant.

Improvement in the Heating System & Design of Shaft Furnaces for Limestone Calcination

The paper describes the authors’ work on improvement of counterflow shaft furnace heating scheme, heating systems, burners and gas0distributing devices, control procedures, introduced in reconstructed and new furnaces with production of lime meeting modern requirements to quality characteristics with high economical and ecological parameters of the process (the content of (ÑàÎ + MgO)act in lime is 92 – 96 %, overburning is not more than 1 %, content of CO and NOX in combustion gases is substantially below the acceptable values).

New Fast Speed Recuperation Gas Burner for Direct Heating of Metal in Industrial Furnaces

A new design of high0speed recuperative burner is introduced, which allow burning of natural gas efficiently in two0stage mode. It decreases ÑÎ and NOx content in combustion products emitted into the operating space at the rate of about 150 m/s. The burner heats the air for burning up to 700 – 750 °Ñ at a temperature of 1000 – 1100 °Ñ in the operating space of the furnace. The burner excels considerably its known analogues in these characteristics.
